Precious Metal Clay Level I

Picture
Student work by R. Brenner. Kitchener, ON.

Come and learn the techniques to work with this amazing clay-like material and apply your own design to the projects!

This course introduces the basics of jewelry making using PMC (Precious Metal Clay).

Topics include principles of design, properties of PMC, basic tools and basic tool creation, PMC carving, stone setting, make and use of molds and stamps, firing, finishing and polishing. Students should complete three finished pieces.

What is Precious Metal Clay?  It was developed in the early 1990s in Japan.  The material consists of microscopic particles of pure silver and a water-soluble, non-toxic, organic binder that burns off during firing leaving behind a 99.9% pure silver piece.

What our customers have to say

Got to spend a little more time with my son's ring after returning home. I just wanted to say what a wonderful job you did!
I think you've not only captured the spirit of the piece but also added your own brilliance. I love the ring even more now.

 -Dwight
Saturday's PMC boot camp with Shannon was fantastic.
The amount I learned on Saturday was overwhelming (in a good way)--
I'm filled with inspiration and ideas and can't wait to purchase PMC and tools and take more workshops.
